winmail.dat files

I am getting win mail.dat files when PC users are sending through PDF's why is this happening and is there something that I or they can do to try and get the right attachment through. When I highlight the situation from them they resend and then the PDF's are visible.

Sudden change in attachments to win mail.dat from a Windows sender I have seen similar questions in the community, but none provides a rational explanation or a solution. Suddenly, without notice and after working perfectly, my email Mac account receives all attachments from a Windows sender as winmail.dat files. When the sender uses Gmail, or my academic email, as the recipient, the files are received in the original format, as expected. A month ago, there was no problem. I have tested two different Macs (27 and Mac mini M2) with the same results. This is not a Windows problem. I suspect this may be a consequence of a recent system update.

How to stop ‘Winmail.dat’ attachments? Since early May I have been receiving attachments as ‘webmail.dat’ files instead of a pdf or whatever type of file it is supposed to be. I have checked to ensure my outlook is not set to send as ‘rich text format’. But I still only get Winmail.dat. could this have been caused by the most recent iOS update? Or is there a way to fix this on my end?
