Just bought a Samsung T5 SSD 1 TB it seemed fine at first but now it won't connect to my mac. I installed the software and after my computer rebooted after installation it says "Disconnected No Samsung Portable SSD is Connected"

I managed to fix this by disabling the password that I had set on the device using the Samsung SSD password security software. I did this by borrowing a windows pc and turning off the security encryption.
once done the SSD is readable on both the borrowed windows pc and my Mac mini, but no security encryption. Which I can live without.
Uninstall Samsung software.
Open disk Utility->Partition->give it a name->Mac OS Extended (journaled)
Run

if it already has a name and "partition" name: select the indented name, choose Erase, give a name and the same as above, start then
Remove the Samsung software. You don't need it.

okay, but I can't put any of my files on it. it says theres only 43.9 MB storage.
So now you can see it and it does connect to your Mac?
Did you format it with Disk Utility?
it connects to my mac but when I try to reformat it. it give me an error
on my mac it comes up as "T5 Setup" and it says it only has 44 MB of storage on it
It's really a lot faster if you tell us how you tried to reformat it, to what settings and what the error was.
Erase, renamed, format Mac OS extended (Case sensitive, Journaled), when I press okay a few seconds later it said it failed
