Garageband error message:

The song you are trying to open is damaged or is in a format that Garageband can't read.

This is the message I get when trying to open my latest project I have spent much time on. Can I fix it? I have it in iCloud drive too, but its the same file so broken there too.

Hi MichaelA_6X,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with GarageBand and the error message you are receiving when you open these files.

It sounds like you may be sharing the files between iOS and macOS versions of GarageBand. This article has some steps you can walk through that may help: If GarageBand isn't working on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If that fails to resolve the issue, please contact Apple Support.

Have a fantastic weekend!
