Why can’t my macbook reach my laptop when they are both on and connected to the same network

Migration Assistant I am trying to transfer content from my PC to my new Mac. I have downloaded the Migration Assistant app and have followed the required steps on both devices. They are on the same network but can’t seem to find each other: the message on my PC is ‘waiting for your Mac to connect’ and on the Mac it is ‘make sure the Windows PC is connected to the same network’. Why are they not detecting each other?

The Mac has detected the PC but when i click continue i get an error message that says “Unable to Connect. LAPTOP XXXXXX could not be reached. Ensure both computers are on and connected to the same network”.

The correct laptop has been detected and both the laptop and MacBook are connected to the same network.
