I have an old Ipod Model MC482LL and tried to connect it to my car

I have an old IPod Model MC482LL and tried to connect it to my car's audio system with a USB connector and although I can see the song on the audio screen there is no sound. Any suggestions on how to get the audio to work? I suspect that it is probably a hardware/firmware issue with the old device that is not compatible with the car audio system.

Check the manual for the car audio. It is probably expecting something like a USB memory stick rather than an Apple device with its proprietary storage layout.
