How can my text messages on my iPhone X disappear as I’m reading it? I didn’t hit delete manually, my settings are to keep text forever and I’m only using 25g of storage space out of 250g. Friends have said they sent text before that I never received but this time I was actually staring at the screen and it vanished. Please HELP!!!

After I opened it in messages. Then I hit the back arrow after it disappeared and you could still see it in the message previews but when I opened it again it still wasn’t there. I took screenshots because it kept appearing and disappearing multiple times from the message preview before vanishing for good. I’ve felt like odd things were going on with messages before but never could figure out exactly what until I witnessed it happening.
I’ve read the Apple article and Followed the instructions multiple times but still having issues.
I’ve also noticed that message notifications don’t pop up automatically anymore if my phone is unlocked, you have to exit to the home screen to check for any new messages.
Did it vanish after you opened it or you were looking at the text on a locked screen.
