Transfer sim card from iPad mini into 6th Generation

Since iPad mini original cannot update any further, can I take the sim card out and put it into my new 9.7" 6th Generation iPAD and have it working as usual?

You should be able to, but to be certain, I suggest you reach out to your cellular provider.
