Document camera has audio, no video

13" Mid-2017 MBP (2 TB ports, non touch) running 10.14.5.

I connect a known-good IPEVO Ziggi document camera and launch the IPEVO presenter software and get a black screen. When I launch Quicktime Player, it sees the camera, but shows a black screen. When I try it in Skype, it sees the camera, but shows a black screen, however also shows it as a functional microphone.

I've tried updating software, resetting SMC, trying in Windows via Parallels.

The camera works fine when connected to my five year old Macbook Air.

Any other advice?
