Optimized Media. How to stop after Import?

How do I stop my video from optimizing after importing?

I deselect “Create optimized media” when I import. The file sizes that are created by optimized media are ridiculously large and I don’t see the point.

For example, today I imported a 1080 60p video that is about 34:35. My FCPX Library was 10.55 GB.

All that I did was to add an Upper Title as a watermark that was superimposed for the entire length of the video.

FCPX 10.4.6 on my MacBook Pro using macOS Mojave 10.14.5 automatically started to process/render and the same Library with the same video is now 80.83 GB.

So I went from 10.55 GB to 80.83 GB by merely adding a font.

Is it possible to prevent this? It slows me down considerably, and going to Compressor takes much longer.

My video is going to YouTube.

Thank you.

Switch off background rendering in Playback. preferences. Select the library and use the delete generated library files.
