How do I retrieve lost folders? Have looked everywhere.

Do you have Time Machine enabled on your notebook and use it regularly? If so, you should be able to use Time Machine to restore these folders. However, without a lot more detail about what folders you are describing, and what you have already tried to recover them, we don't have very much to go on.
