how can I change my apple ID from an invalid email?

What is the error message you get when you try to change it? If not available, normally, if your e-mail address was associated with an ID in any way, for example as a Reachable at or Rescue e-mail address, then it can't be reused with another Apple ID for approximately one year. I have also seen posts that stated Apple told them there was a 30 day waiting period before the address could be used again. You will need to get another e-mail address to use as your Apple ID or you can try waiting 30 days to see if that works.

Thank you, I tried that but the issue is that it won't let me use my current email address. . The one I need to use as my ID will always be active.
I was able to log in but when I try the change my ID it says that the email is already in use and wont let me change it. The email is in use because it's mine.

Do you mean that you cannot sign in to appleid.apple.com with your old email (i.e., current Apple ID) in order to change it using the procedure in Change your Apple ID - Apple Support
Note that the fact that email is no longer valid with your email provider should not matter.
