need to erase iPad that won't turn on

I have an iPad that has so little power that it won't turn on- powers up just to the apple showing up- is recognized my iTunes, but needs password, and it never gets to that point. I need to erase it. Is there any way to do that ? I am able to remove it from account, but want to erase it

It's been charged, for days- I had given it to my grandson , and they left it charged for days, to try and make it work- never got past the apple- I tried it here, same problem. thought I was going to be able to plug it into iTunes and erase that way, but it wants the verification from the iPad in order to use it in iTunes... trying to erase old stuff is frustrating. and my husband brought home an old 2007 laptop and a Powerbook G3 for me to erase and "toss", and 2 old phones. aagh.

If the battery, in that iPad, has completely failed and is dead, then there is no way you are going to do anything with that iPad!

If you are planning to still use this iPad, a battery replacement from Apple is $99 U.S.D., plus tax.

You will need to make an appointment at your nearest, “local” Apple Store to arrange for a battery replacement.

To expedite fast customer servicd, Apple Stores, at their discretion, may offer you a replacement iPad in lieu of an actual internal battery replacement as most Apple Store locations do not have any means of repairing anything, in-store, any longer.

Best of Luck to You!
