imessage number won't change to my current and preferred number.

Can't i simply click some button that says change imessage number and enter my phone number and let it validate? I am having a hard time changing my number back after i switched to my second sim to receive and sms (not imessage) sent to it. 2wks now 😡tried almost all i can find in the forum still no luck.
