Stopping iOS 12 Autoplay Safari?

Can we stop AutoPlay of videos and GIFs on websites using browsers on iOS? It seems like no.. and yes..

So, lots of people are asking this question and dead ends are often found, any leads also often locked on this site after only a couple months.

Weird that there's a really obvious option on Mac OS, right there in browser preferences so the ability is obviously there to control it from the browser; but this is not the case with iOS. I really don't know much about technology in terms of system design and maybe this is a factor, but I subscribe to the media-control conspiracy that Apple is paid off by these corps to not have this feature, as it allows for more aggressive monetization of their sites. Whatever the reason they don't want us to have the option.

However, if when using a browser you CAN go into some site settings (Google for sure) and change settings offered through their mobile engine to choose No Autoplay, WiFi only or WiFi and Data.

Interesting to see if many other websites offer this but at least some will. This is the only solution I've found from my limited exploration before becoming frustrated at the stifled discussions.

Anyone else have other solutions?
