You are given a hint as you go through the process about the Apple ID. The hint would appear something like:

ab******@yahoo.com

... or similar.

If you then recall the Apple ID but not the password:

If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support

If that’s not enough, your iPad is Activation Locked and will remain useless forever.
