Quick Time access to microphone

If you want to record audio through your microphone in QuickTime select it in the menu close to the Record button. https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201066#record

Thank you for your response. The solution was that I had to go to the Privacy settings and check the box allowing Quick Time to access my microphone before I could record.
