Just now I was trying to find the division symbol on my keyboard (iPhone)
Wondering why I couldn’t find it, I searched on google. Which, in turn led me here. To a post from 2011.
My question is, why? It’s been 8 years. Surely the team with the abilities to add it to the current keyboard read these forums. Right?

I was able to successfully add it using text replacement rather than using the emoji.
One thing you can do is copy the division symbol from this thread and then go to Settings > General > Keyboards > Text Replacement. You could use something like div which will be replaced by the division sign.
That symbol is already among your emojis.
Check under Symbols... as per this screenshot:
Or follow the suggestion that Anypats offered you.

Do you mean the "/" key, which is on the same key as the question mark?
Or do you mean the "÷" symbol, which you can get by pressing option and "/" ?
There is the forward slash / and a division emoji.

The only option for this ÷ symbol on an iPhone is to use emojis.

Just super busy at work. Currently in the process of upgrading all computers to Windows 10 and replacing about 100 PCs.
