I lost my AirPods yesterday in college and when I tried to track them on find my IPhone, the app showed the old location which was my classroom itself, when I had them on. But later when I checked the app again after an hour or so the AirPods weren’t listed on the app. I checked my iCloud account and it said that no AirPods are connected on my account. Is it possible that someone found them and connected them to their phone ? Is there any other way I can track them?

If your AirPods are out of range of all of your devices, need to charge, or are in the AirPod Case, Find My iPhone can still help by showing the time and location where they were last connected.
Once they have run flat, or you are no longer in range, they won't show, although that suggests you ought to see a last known location.
