AirPods settings won’t show

I just bought the first gen AirPods. No issues with pairing and listening to music. However, I can’t see the settings when I hit the “i” in the Bluetooth screen. I can’t see the settings to change the double taps or anything else. Please help.

Okay, I think I have a quick solution for this. But the basics first.

  1. Try to turn off Bluetooth and turn it back on.
  2. Try turning on or off your iPhone.
  3. Try reconnecting your AirPods. Since the “i” Button does not appear, hold the button on the back side of the AirPods case until the light inside the case turns white. By that time, your screen should show your AirPods. If not, close and reopen the case. Then, click Connect.
  4. Check what iOS you are on. It may have something related to that.

I hope one of these methods will help you through this. If I may, what iOS version are you on?

Good Luck!

Okay, thank god you are on iOS 12.3.1. That way, it makes life easier. So, backup your iPhone to iTunes, along with encrypting your backup. Then, setup your password and back it up. Here are proper steps. Or, the risk free way is below.

  1. Connect your iPhone to an iMac or a MacBook.
  2. iTunes should launch. If not, launch it yourself.
  3. Click the icon somewhere in the top left for iPhone.
  4. Back up your iPhone to iTunes with an encrypted backup (Click Encrypt Backup after clicking iTunes backup, and set your password. REMEMBER IT, YOU NEED IT. I would recommend setting it as either your Apple ID password, your device password, or something like 0000).
  5. ‘Finally back it up fully. Try making 2 backups just to be sure.
  6. Archive your Backup by clicking up at the very top of the screen Preferences>Devices> Right Click on Backup> Archive. It should now have the time and date.
  7. Time to wipe the device.
  8. Restore the device with that Archived Backup. You will need to use the password you set for the backup earlier.
  9. Pair your AirPods again.
  10. If it doesn’t work, then I’m not sure how to help you.

I understand this is a large stretch, but thank god you are on iOS 12. You can save much more data. Remember, this comes with its own risks, and I am not liable for data lossage. If you do not want to take the risk, contact Apple Support through their app “Apple Support” or through an Apple Store.

Good luck mate!
