Macbook not updating from iCloud

The title says it all, my MacBook is not updating from my iCloud. On my phone I have 150 more pictures than on my MacBook, the MacBook doesn't have any new photos from yesterday or today. I have tried turning off/on both the iPhone and Macbook. I've done a manual synch (several of them actually) via iTunes. I've double and triple checked and made sure all the things are turned on under System Preferences > iCloud > Photos >Options and the version of that on the iPhone. I've done a hard reset of my iPhone and signed in and out of iCloud on my Mac. I've disabled iCloud on my Mac and then signed back in. And STILL I am missing 150 photos on my computer. I have an older MacBook so I cannot AirDrop them to myself and at any rate I'd rather FIX the issue than deal with a workaround.


Any help appreciated! I am moving and trying to sell tons of stuff and it's easier to post on all these for sale sites on my laptop than using my phone.

Hi Pzonks,


Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with iCloud Photos. It sounds like you have more pictures on your iPhone than you do your MacBook.


If you are using iCloud Photos, you shouldn't have to use iTunes at all to sync Photos from your iPhone to your MacBook. Check out this page: Set up and use iCloud Photos.


You can also go to iCloud.com from Safari on your MacBook to see if the missing photos are there. If they are, they should be syncing with iCloud Photos to your MacBook.

Thanks for getting back to us. Have you verified that you are signed into iCloud in System Preferences > iCloud? If you are, try signing out and back in. Also, be sure Photos is switched on.


If that still doesn't sync Photos for you, try creating a new Mac User Account and signing in with your Apple ID there. Here is how to test an issue in a new user: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.


If Photos won't sync in that account either, please contact Apple Support.

sterling r thank you for your answer BUT I'm afraid it didn't work. The photos ARE in my icloud, I checked by using my browser but my MacBook isn't updating anything from iCloud at this point and I don't know why. This is incredibly frustrating!
