4K Apple TV sound cuts out

I have a 4K Apple TV connected to a non-4K compatible receiver via HTML.

If I select 4K HDR for audio and adjust the audio, I loose both picture and sound for up to 20 seconds or so. When the audio/video come back, the audio has increased. Is this because the device is looking at the receiver and having issues with the non-4K device? If I replace the receiver with a 4K ready one, will this issue go away?

If you connect the Apple TV 4K to an AV receiver that doesn’t support 4K, then the devices will ‘negotiate’ a reduced settings that they all support. Unsupported options shouldn’t be available to select.

Adjusting the audio volume via a functional AV receiver shouldn’t result in cutting out video and audio completely for 20 seconds.

If the Apple TV was previously connected to a different setup, then try a reset of the settings, to re-configure from a blank slate.
