iCloud icons

I've seen some helpful answers to what the different iCloud icons mean but I'm still wondering why sometime the cloud is icon has a solid line and sometimes it's dotted. What does the latter indicate?

icloud icon with exclamation point Hi, I have a text clipping file in my trash that I cannot get rid of. It has an iCloud icon with exclamation point inside next to the file name, and keeps reappearing after I empty the trash, both with or without the option key pressed. I am guessing this means that it is in iCloud somewhere, but I can't figure out where. I'd really like to get rid of the file. Any clues where I can find this or how it can be trashed? Thanks.
