New iPad and synching

Today I bought a new iPad, and linked it to the same Apple ID as my old iPad. I want to stop Mail synching between the both of them. I have unselected Mail in the iCloud settings on both, but still the Mail apps are synching. I want to remove all emails from the old iPad and have them on the new one.

I have also deselected the old iPad on the iTunes devices section... but even when I connect the new iPad to my iMac it does not show up in devices.

I want to let my husband use the old iPad for reading the newspaper, browsing etc, but without access to my emails. I've been google searching but haven't come up with anything.

Hope someone can help please.

You need to follow these steps on the iPad you are giving

to your husband, in the order given and allowing 1 step to

complete before starting the next step.

before sell/give away iDevice: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351

Your husband also needs his own AppleID. You may wish

to look into Family Sharing so you will only need to purchase

apps, etc once.

Apologies - I misunderstood what you were asking.

On the iPad your husband will be using and on which you

do not want him to have access to your email, go into

Settings > Passwords & Accounts and toggle off the email

for the accounts to which you wish to restrict access. If you wish

to restrict more, perhaps following the links posted previously

and getting your husband his own AppleID would work better.

The store employee was correct in telling you that you needed to use

your current AppleID and passcode to see that everything synced to your new

iPad. Now that is done, you need to change the settings on the old iPad

so that email, etc will not be available on the old iPad.

If this is not what you are asking, please provide more information so

someone may offer a solution.

no I am not giving my old iPad to my husband at all. My old iPad has under 2GB left on it so is not working too well. it is synching all the time with the new iPad and vice versa. I want to stop the synching between them., Then I can delete the emails, some photos etc off the off the old iPad in order to free up some space on it. Otherwise when I take photos etc on the new iPad they will just add to the old iPad.

Sorry if I am not explaining things too well to you. I asked in the shop when I bought the new iPad today whether I should start a new ID and they said no because he said then I would not be able to transfer everything from the old to the new one,

Thank you very much, that is fine for Mail, got my Mail accounts toggled off which has freed up some space.

  1. Tell me if I toggle off Messages on the old iPad will they stay on the new iPad, I don't want to lose them.
  2. What about photos, if I take photos on the new iPad can I stop them synching on to the old iPad, I want to keep some free space on the old iPad and photos or little videos will use it up over time ahead.

Thank you very much for your help I really appreciate it.
