How do I delete playlist icons?

At the top of a playlist there is an icon next to the playlist name. I know how to change that icon, but the list of candidates that I've created is getting very large and I need to remove some. It can't be done via the iTunes interface. So where are they stored on my computer? If I can find that place, then maybe I can delete those no longer needed.

Sometimes they get auto-generated. Sometimes not. It's random. But you can override the auto-generated icons. Just click on it.

Choose "Other" and you can select an image file to add to this matrix of images. Alternatively, just drag and drop an image file from Finder over the playlist icon and it will install it. Then you can enlarge it or shrink it or reposition it. But you can never delete them. I have hundreds of them in this matrix. There are so many that it is a useless list. Rather than go find a previously used one, I just make a new one. So the list always grows. I would like to delete many to make the list useful.
