Apple watch carriers

Why are Optus, Telstra and Vodafone still the only carriers in Australia for the Apple Watch? I would much prefer to use a company like Amaysim but because they don't support the Apple Watch I'm forced to go with a far more expensive carrier.

I understood when the watch was first released that Apple hadn't had an opportunity to deal with more than three carriers but it's been almost two years now. Why won't they allow other carriers in????

I would assume part of it is the carrier's willingness to enter into an agreement with Apple.

Plus I think it necessary for the cellular carrier to support WiFi calling, and not all carrier do, and the carrier MUST support an eSIM (electronic SIM), and not all carriers do that.

Also, if some of the carriers are really services that piggyback on another carrier's network, there could be agreements between those to carriers as to what services they are allowed to offer.

So there could be business reasons or technical reasons why those other carriers do not support the Apple Watch.
