I have a kindle fire tablet and am thinking of getting the 6th generationm ipad. I am a LUDDITE and my grandkids are not around so I need an answer to this question from someone: Can I transfer my books, etc., on the fire to my ipad?

You can download the Kindle App on the iPad, and books you bought from Amazon, should be available in the Kindle App when you sign in with your Amazon account.

For other data, you should be able to use the Move to iOS App to transfer it to the iPad.

Kindle books should be available through the kindle app for the iPad.

Videos purchased through Amazon should be available in the Amazon Prime Video App for the iPad.

You will need to download the apps and sign in using your Amazon ID within the apps.

I transfer kindle stuff (ebooks, etc.), can I transfer stuff to my ipad?

If the etc. means Android apps, they will not not transfer. You can use the iOS App store to download the iOS versions, if available to your new device.
