I had won a macbook pro Mid 2017 model in 2018 in a raffle. I have never opened the box or registered the laptop because I was using another one. Now I am ready to switch. Will the warranty still be valid? I am not sure when it was purchased but I am assuming sometime in mid to late 2017 based on the model. I would appreciate if anyone knows if I to register my Mac book pro now will the warranty start from this point on?

You can check that yourself.
It's probably safe to assume it's not under warranty. But check again after you set it up. In the Setup Assistant it automatically registers you, then you should see information on warranty.
The warranty started as soon as Apple sold it.
Thank you. It says purchase date not validated. I am assuming the entity who bought this for the raffle did not register the purchase date. So I should assume the warranty is no longer valid right?

Theoretically an authorized dealer will provide the sale information to Apple but that doesn't always happen. Without the receipt you're not going to be able to access the warranty since it's not showing coverage. It's possible to get warranty service without a receipt if Apple knows the approximate sale date and there's plenty of time left. I've gotten a warranty replacement on an accessory when the approximate warranty end was in 8 months. But if you're coming close, then more likely they'll ask to see the receipt.
