phone keeps crashing ios 12.3.1 on Iphone 6 plus

I did my iOS update today and over the first few hours phone started behaving iratically, very sluggish - then started crashing. Battery was on around 49% but then it bombed out and got stuck in a rebooting loop never passing the Apple logo. Eventually I managed to connect it to my pc and using recovery had to wipe and reload back to factory settings. During the process obviously it pulled down the current IOS but despite being connected to the pc the battery drained down to about 3% - fortunately the recovery worked (so it seemed) so I restored my cloud backup from yesterday.....unfortunately once I'd reloaded my apps, music and set up the required info - the phone started crashing again, if a couple of apps were open it got sluggish swapping between them and when a call came in the phone didn't display anything to allow me to answer the phone but continued to ring. Then it crashed again. The phone has always worked fine until I installed the iOS update today. (Phone is a 64gb iPhone 6 Plus on an EE sim and has 43 gb free) any one able to shed any light or had a similar problem? (Ps I'm also an I.T engineer - so very clued up and repaired several iPhones in the past but this has me stumped!)

Thanks Jayne

Hi Tech-jayne,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that your iPhone is experiencing performance issues. I'll be happy to help and shed some light.

I recommend reviewing the battery health status on your iPhone. You'll want to check and see if the condition of the battery is impacting the performance level. Here's a helpful article that will guide you: iPhone Battery and Performance Specifically you'll want to review the section that says, "Battery Health."

If the battery health is indicating an issue with the battery, you'll want to have the battery replaced on your iPhone. This will resolve the issue you're experiencing. For assistance in reviewing your service options, I recommend contacting Apple Support through this link here: Contact Support

Best regards!

Dear Joseph_s thanks for your reply

I don't believe it's the battery - there was no issue before the iOS upgrade. Using battery doctor pro one thing has come to light, when looking at used memory it keeps creeping up to 97% - using optimise memory I can bring it down to about 50% but it keeps creeping back up to 97% and obviously when it bottoms out it reboots and keeps cycling the boot sequence- so it looks like a memory leak. This never run at that level previous to updating to iOS 12.3.1 I've tried a recovery and reinstalled from back up - that didn't work. Problem still existed (but obviously the recovery auto installs 12.3.1) I've even done a factory reset and set up as a new phone and the problem persists. Once the phone is on and briefly stable, remaining in touched and not in use the battery power stays ok and isn't running down fast or showing issues - but battery doctor shows the memory useage increasing until it's up in the 90s again so the usage obviously kicks it up to 100% and the problem reoccurs
