Are iPhones safe from malware and viruses even if I accidentally clicked a strange link on Instagram?

Unless you have jailbroken your iPhone, clicking on a link won't hurt the phone. However, if you click on a link and then give out personal information, you could get yourself in some trouble.
You have not mentioned which iPhone model you have and what is the iOS version.
iPhones cannot get infected with any viruses or malware.
As stated, if your phone was NOT previously jail broken, it can not be affected by clicking on a link.
I see. The only way for malicious code to run on your phone is by intentionally running something unapproved by Apple. I suppose there is a slight chance for someone to release an app through Apple's app store and have it infect your phone. I don't know if this has ever happened in the past though.
No it’s just I’ve heard both answers yes and no that you do and don’t have to jail brake it and it’s getting confusing. I’m just trying to find an honest answer. (Not that your not honest) I’ve just heard a lot of answers.

When you mean unapproved wouldn’t a sketchy link be unapproved or not?
What exactly are you expecting this "sketchy" link to do? Download a file? run some code? Re-direct to another site?
It redirected me to some weird account but I’m afraid it did something in the background.
My iPhone is not jailbroken so if I clicked a link that was sent to me on Instagram it can’t secretly download or install anything malicious?
What would you have to do to your iPhone to let something like that to occur? (Not that I want to)
