I have two MacBooks: this 2015 model with Mojave and a 2009 model running whatever the latest OS it is able to (Yosemite or High Sierra, maybe; it is out on loan and I have forgotten).
Should I delete Java from neither or one or both? Thank you for looking.

If you don’t use anything Java, then you don’t need Java installed.
If you use things that require Java, then you would need Java installed.
you could also just disable the plugin How to disable the Java web plug-in in Safari - Apple Support
some desktop apps can at times rely on it being installed I believe
As it doesn't seem to be very large or harmful, I will leave it. My computer says I have not used it in six months but I wouldn't know. Thanks to both of you.
