Apple Pay

for me to use apple to sell something online does the person paying need to download the app.

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 12

If you want them to pay you by using Apple Pay, they would need to do the following (but there isn't an app they need to download): Send, receive, and request money with Apple Pay - Apple Support
