How to Dial an Extension on iPhone

• Open the Phone app.
• Dial the main number you’re calling.
• Then hold down the * (asterisk) until a comma appears.
• Now enter the extension number after the comma.

When you do this, make sure you hold down the * long enough to turn it into a comma. The comma acts as a pause and lets your phone know it’s dialing an extension.

Can you elaborate more on what you mean?

Are you dialing the phone number and extension all before hitting the "Call" button?

You can dial a phone number and extension all at once by inserting a Pause (i.e. (888) 555-1234,123)

You insert the pause ( , ) by holding down on the asterisk/star key in the phone dialer.

As further info, there is also a wait command ( ; ) which is inserted by holding the hash/pound key.

What do you mean it doesn't compute on the phone?

Even if it works on your landline, it could be that the number you're dialing doesn't accept the tones used on cell phones. However, I have never encountered this as an issue

I think you would need to use another device to do it. You could try the screen recording function, but I don't know that it will capture everything your aiming to.

Does this only happen when calling a specific number? Maybe their method of receiving extensions doesn't work properly
