how do I phone a locked iPhone how do I reset/erase it??

I went to Miami and found an iPhone , but I live in NJ. So how do I erase this iPhone to use it? since whomever owes this phone is no wheres to be found.???? thank you in advance Leah

Return it to the Miami police, it is possibly reported as lost/stolen. If that is the case, your possession of it could be criminal.
