I am currently using a 50 GB storage plan that auto renews. I want to downgrade to a free plan, however the done button on the downgrade plan screen is greyed out. I have less than 5 GB of data stored on iclod. My current subscription is valid till 22/07/2019. Please help.

You tried downgrading it via your computer : Downgrade your iCloud storage - Apple Support ?
If that also doesn't work : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww (click on your country's flag, the country where you live, and which is therefore the country on the account ; click on Contact Support towards the top right ; click on Get Help under 'Talk To Us’)
