Internet Recovery not making any progress

long story short, I’ve decided to erase my disc entirely and reinstall the system since my mac was full of junk. I was on El Capitan, which is no longer supported so I had to use Internet Recovery to download Mountain Lion and later update to the latest OS. The problem is that Internet Recovery is not making progress at all. Could it be because of slow internet connection?

PS: I’ve been trying to reinstall stuff since yesterday evening, it worked perfectly fine and took half an hour to recover and start installing Mountain Lion yesterday, but wi-fi went down.

If you are able to connect using an Ethernet cable, that should help. If it hasn't progressed since the WiFi went down, you may need to restart, and try again since the network connection was disrupted.
