I recently bought an Apple Watch Series 4 for my son, I currently have an iPhone 6 and would like to not let him look at my messages and not get notifications. How would I go about doing that?

What kind of phone does your son have? Sounds like you are sharing an Apple ID. Did you activate this watch from your iPhone instead of your son's, or does his iPhone have the same Apple ID as you? If so, that is a bad idea. He needs his own Apple ID.
He has to have the Watch linked to his own phone. The Watch right now is an extension of your iPhone, which means he is going to continue to get everything. He has to have his own Phone to use the watch. It cannot be activated through your iPhone, nor through his iPad.
He has his own Apple ID. Just not his own phone. He has an iPad Mini 3. I activated his watch from my phone but I want to hook it up to his Apple ID.
So he gets notifications and apps from his iPad. If it is possible, apps from my phone but no notifications or messages (includes contacts.)
