Notification of login/attempt not initiated here

"Your Apple ID and phone number are now being used for iMessage on a new Mac." This notice came up on iPhone 8 and iPad as well. How do you know what is happening? How do you know if this has been a successful use/theft of our log-in information?

Check your device list to see if an unknown device/computer is logged into your Apple ID.


Apple ID device list -Check to see where you‘re signed in


You can change your password as a precautionary measure.

 What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support     I suggest doing this before you change your Apple ID or password.
