Bare Bones Watch 4

I'm getting my elderly father an apple watch 4 just for the fall warning and to use as a straight watch. Anything else on it is going to confuse him, but he does still want to have the usual apps (phone, email, text, etc.) on his iPhone. Is it possible to remove everything except the watch face and the fall warning screens from the watch 4 and leave them on his iphone? How?

Thanks for your help and advice... (the new watch 4 is terrific and the fall application is unique but this 87 year old guy is far from a techie and gets confused easily)

As julieda says, some degree of control is possible from the watch app, and it crossed my mind you might be able to use Parental Controls on the paired iPhone - in this case controls applied TO a parent, rather than BY a parent. Based on experience with my own parents I suspect you are going to have a hard struggle getting them to use as you would like, the secret is to adapt to how they think it should be used (if possible, and if that is the same way as yesterday and the day before). I wish you luck.
