my left shift key inputs different characters. there are times that it works similarly with the right shift key but there are times that it does different. why does this happen? is this normal? Thanks, need your answers

Connect a usb keyboard and test. If it works as expected with the external keyboard then it is the hardware on the internal.

Like what exactly? If your left shift key inputs ÅÍÎÏ˝, it indicates your machine thinks the option key is being held down.
