Drives partitions different after failed Boot Camp Attempt?

After a few failed Boot Camp installation, when I go look at disks in Disk Utility, there are things there that I don't remember seeing in the past on the drives. I'm wondering if something went awry during the install process that changes some of the partitions on the drive. I have two physical drives , OS is on the SSD drive and I keep data on the Data Drive.

This is a new install, so there shouldn't be any secondary partitions on the OS. The Data Drive is a single drive, a well and shouldn't have any extra partitions that aren't needed on it either. has a lot of archived files on it, so I'm hoping I didn't inadvertently screws something up there.

Can someone tell me is this is what a typical drive should look like in terms of partitioning?

On a 2011 iMac, with two internal drives, the only supported disk layout is a Fusion drive, which is partitioned, using the HDD part, by BC Assistant.

In the current state, you will run into many issues.

Also,

The best approach is

  • Downgrade to macOS Sierra
  • Create a CoreStorage Fusion (not APFS) drive with the SSD first, HDD second
  • Install W7/W8.1, and in-place upgrade to W10, if desired
  • Attempt Mojave upgrade, but I do not recommend it.

How did you end up with an APFS Container and volumes?

On the CoreStorage Fusion front, are there any tutorials you can point me to getting this configured? I did do some searching and from what I could find out it sounds like you would need to first create the a logical volume group by combining both both drives at the same time?

Yes, you first need a good backup via Time Machine.

Is there a CoreStorage Fusion tutorial you could point me to?
• Also, I want to make sure I don't have any unnecessary partitions when I create the Fusion drive, so what's the best and cleanest way to just wipe out both drives and clear out any partitions?
• There are a bazillion vids on BootCamp, but is there any one you could point me to once I do get the Fusion drive setup?
