Speakers sounding bad

I have been using the apple watch series 3 for the last two months for everyday use and exercise. When I go swimming I always put the water lock on and after swimming I rinse it with fresh water, dry it, and expel the water. I have never had a problem until today. I did my normal process after swimming and then made a phone call. The sound coming out of it was very high pitched and somewhat squeaky and distorted. I tired calling another person just to check it wasn't the line and the same thing happened. I am really disappointed because I love my watch! Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?
