From field in Sent Mail shows - my vacuum cleaner

When I send an email in Apple Mail using my Yahoo account, and select From: my Yahoo account, my Sent folder shows that the mail was sent from "Roomba." Roomba is a Contact I once created for a vacuum cleaner company.

This only happens on my Mac Pro - test messages composed on my iPhone and Macbook show me - not Roomba.

Mail Preferences/Composing/Addressing offers a "Send new messages from" options list. Whether I choose "automatically select best account" or the email address itself - Mac Pro Mail still says the sent message came from Roomba.

I went into the Roomba contact and deleted the Yahoo account from the Email field.

And Sent mail still says from Roomba.

At no time in the past was I demented enough to deliberately compose an email from my vacuum cleaner.

Fortunately recipients see it's from me, not my vacuum cleaner - but it's weird and annoying to have my Sent folder haunted by a robot. A Dark Mirror episode?

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello markwk52,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that emails sent from your Mac Pro unexpectedly show an old contact name instead of your email address. I can see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help.

First, try going to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information (tab), then click the up/down arrow next to "Email Address" and click "Edit Email Addresses...". Do you see the "Roomba" entry there? If so, you can either click the "Full Name" to edit it, or click the "+" symbol at the bottom to add a new entry, then highlight the incorrect one and click the "-" symbol to remove.

If that wasn't the issue, I recommend using the steps in the following resource to rebuild the mailbox on your Mac:
