Server Side Out Of Office Message

I want to set up server side "Out Of Office" messages in Mail on Lion Server.

I have enabled Webmail.

When I launch my browser (Safari) and go to http://localhost/webmail as suggested, I get a page with the Mail ICON in the upper left corner, and a error message in the body of the page that says "DATABASE ERROR: CONNECTION FAILED!" "Unable to connect to the database! Please contact your server-administrator."

I am the server admin, so contacting myself isn't helping! :-)

Any ideas from anyone?

Lion is really old. Can you get to High Sierra? Specifically an upgrade to High Sierra, and not to Mojave? High Sierra is the end of the line for Server, as you and many of us are using it.

Launch Terminal, and check the DNS setup with the following (harmless) command:

sudo changeip -checkhostname

You’ll either get an OK, or some ecidence of a DNS setup issue.

Mail servers are dependent on proper DNS, both locally, and for having their outbound and sometimes inbound mail exchanged with other mail servers.
