Could not find installation information

I recently got a certified refurbished Macbook Pro (Early-2013 ME662LL/A) and while following the steps provided on a guide titled “How to wipe and re-install your operating system” I’m experiencing an issue. I’ve completed the steps to erasing the OS, but when I go to reinstall Mac OS X, I get a message that says “Could not find installation information for this machine. Contact AppleCare.” I’m not sure what went wrong because I followed the steps exactly and I figured I would reach out because the card said to contact the seller before contacting Amazon’s Customer Service.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this was a gift and was desperately needed as I am starting college in a few weeks.

You’re not chatting with Apple, but rather with other Apple users.

If you’re not on a locked-down Wi-Fi and if Recovery and Internet Recovery aren’t working, and if a bootable installer aren’t working...

Contact Apple Support directly. Some campuses also have nearby Apple Stores, as another option. The Apple Support folks or the store folks might possibly send you to whoever “certified refurbished” this Mac, though; to the seller, if it wasn’t Apple.
