I need to update my Messenger App on my iPhone however my App says I need to uninstall it, then reinstall it for the update to work. I've Googled whether this will delete my data and found out that the data is safe ... however, when I try and delete it, the following message comes up: "Deleting this app will also delete its data" so now I'm confused! Can anyone help?

Deleting an app from the iPhone generally deletes the associated data. If you are referring to Facebook Messenger, then I suggest you contact their support. Generally updating an app does not require you to delete it, you just click on update in the App Store. So I'm not sure what the problem is.
Thanks ChrisJ4203, appreciate your reply. After reading your reply, I went back into the App and this time for some reason, I was able to update it without having to install then reinstall it! Don't know what's changed but thank you so much for taking time out to reply to my query as it is now resolved :)
