Can I pair my AirPods with another person's Apple device without transferring "ownership" to their Apple ID?

Sorry, but there is no way to do that. When you pair them to a device, they are automatically linked to the AppleID used with iCloud and find my iPhone/iPad/Mac on that device.
The airpods have no way of connecting to iCloud themselves as they have no internet connection capability. So they piggyback on find my iPhone of the device they are paired to.

Thanks, but no. I've followed those instructions for pairing with another Apple device using a different Apple ID from my own, and the devices associated with my Apple ID forgot about my AirPods.
I'm specifically interested in how I pair my AirPods a different Apple device while keeping the device associated with my own Apple ID. For example, I have a work MacBook on which I take conference calls. I would really like to use my AirPods, but I use a different Apple ID on the work computer. I don't want the Air Pods to be associated with work@apple.id, but would rather like them to behave like a regular bluetooth headset.
Disappointing, but thanks for the answer.
