best way to connect my ipad pro to television

hi, what's the best way to connect my iPad Pro to my Samsung television, I bought a usb c to hdmi cable, I selected the correct input source, thought this would work ok but not going through to my television.

will I need to buy a Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to get it to work?
