Disk utility app on my Mac.

When I try to run Disk Utility for my Mac, it hangs up, then locks up the computer. Is there a new/updated Disk Utility app available?

Either there is a serious problem with one of your drives or some software conflict.

Do you have external drives connected? Eject them and try running Disk Utility. Does it work?

Otherwise, try it in Safe Mode. Does it still crash?

You may also run Etrecheck and post its report here.

Please download and run Etrecheck It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. Also it will give us further specs on your Mac. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information. Allowing full drive access will improve the quality of the report.

I followed Luis's suggestion and ran another disk utility and it worked perfectly. I don't know why it quit working, and don't know why it's working now. Glad it is though. I will save this discussion and your suggestions in case it happens again. Thank you very much for trying to help.
