Back falling off

the back of my Apple Watch 1st gen recently started falling off and now it’s starting to malfunction a little bit. I read this is a known issue and may be covered for repairs. Is it? If not is that a simple fix?

Broken back glass Apple Watch Back glass on my watch 8 has broken, not sure how. Very little is chipped away and there seems to be some small internal shattering. Everything on the watch works, sensors work normally. Since I noticed the breakage (1 week ago), it has not spread. I am wondering how important it is to change the back glass or replace the watch? Could the breakage impact sensors in long term?

This is not a simple or DIY fix. You need to Contact Support to arrange inspection and repair.
