Verification code on old iPhone

I have an old iPhone 5, unsure what iOS version because it doesn’t show up in Settings> About like current software does. It has no SIM card and just connects to our home WiFi. I’m trying to have it hold music and a white noise app for my little one. It constantly is asking for my iTunes Store sign in, but when I put in the password then I get an allow/don’t allow on my current device followed by a verification code. However there is nowhere to enter a verification code on this older phone. So I can’t download a white noise app and apparently can’t download the newest possible iOS for an old phone (10.3.4 shows up but nothing happens when I click download and install). Any ideas/solutions?

Put the password and the code together as I posted above. After getting the code, select another setting, then go back to the iTunes setting, and try to sign in again with the password and code.

The old one asks for the password. Then I get the allow box pop up on the current phone, followed by a code popping up. I’m never getting a place to enter the code on the old one.

Are you saying input the password and code all together? It still doesn’t prompt for the password a second time after giving me the verification code.
